Take a Break Applications Now Open

Take a Break is Scotland’s short breaks fund for carers of disabled and seriously ill children, young people and their families. Take a Break grants can be used for a break away, towards leisure activities or outings, sports equipment and much, much more.

Eligibility for this years Take a Break grant has changed to parent carers (including eligible kinship carers) of disabled and seriously ill children and young people aged 0 to 17 years old.  The aim of this programme is to support unpaid parent carer’s quality of life, health and wellbeing by providing cash grants to help them access a short break. Take a Break grants can be used flexibly, to help meet the interests and circumstances of the carer.

Applications close at 5:00pm on Monday 30 June 2025.
