Young Carer Grant Extension
Social Security Scotland’s Young Carer Grant is now helping even more young people, with the payment now available to young carers aged 19.
The £390.25 annual payment, which was previously open to 16 to 18-year-olds, has been extended to provide funding for carers who are 19 years old.
The Scotland-only payment can be used to pay for whatever the young person wants – like driving lessons, tech to help with work or study or new clothes.
The grant is available to young people who spend at least 16 hours a week caring for someone who receives a qualifying disability benefit. It is available to young people who are in education, employed or out of work.
If you know an unpaid carer, please help spread the word about the range of financial help they may be entitled to. Find out more and how to apply at Young Carer Grant - mygov.scot or by calling 0800 182 2222.
