NL Community Climate Action Panel

North Lanarkshire Council is starting the process of creating a new climate action plan. This plan will need to meet the three public bodies climate change duties to
*Mitigate emissions
*Contribute to adaptation
*Act in the most sustainable way possible
The panel is for members to co-design engagement and outreach strategies for the development of the climate action plan, to co-design actions and priorities for the Council alongside internal services and to build capacity for community-led initiatives.
Lived experience and place-based knowledge will be critical to this process to ensure the climate plan addresses community needs and improves local resilience. Additionally, the panel may serve in an auditory role to scrutinise the work of the Council and serve as an external reviewer. The remit of the panel is currently flexible and will set as it formalises.
They are looking to recruit panel members representing each area of North Lanarkshire, there are a few community organisations and groups who are already members.
Local community groups, organisations, or individual residents who are interested in climate action and who would like to get involved in the panel and represent their area should contact Aileen Webster by emailing her at aileen.webtser@vanl.co.uk
The next meeting is 1st December in the evening online.
