Energy Brief 3

Produced by Citizens Advice Scotland, this edition which covers the entire CAB network underlines the pressing energy challenges people across Scotland are facing and explores potential solutions.
Key findings in this issue:
- During the first 3 months of 2025, we supported over 9,900 people across Scotland with their energy needs.
- Almost one in five people who walked through our doors received energy advice.
People seeking advice from our network had an average energy debt of £2,500. In rural areas, it’s even higher, at £3,100. - More than 4,000 people needed advice on fuel vouchers and energy trust fund applications – revealing significant demand for emergency support around energy costs.
- The impending Radio Teleswitch (RTS) switch-off is causing disruption and threatening to make households worse off, especially in rural and island communities.
