A new project launched by Airdrie Citizens Advice Bureau and made possible by a grant from People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The Action Beyond Courage project is aimed at providing advice to women affected by or at risk of domestic abuse.  This project will use digital mediums such as web chat and accessible online guides to provide women with knowledge of their legal and financial rights, allowing them to make informed decisions.

Information will focus on:

  • Accessing safe housing including alternative housing options and/or their rights to remain in the family home as well as preventing homelessness
  • Managing financial affairs and rights to entitlements: joint bank accounts, control of bank accounts, access to financial support, child maintenance, joint debts and managing living expenses
  • Access to welfare benefits, income maximisation and challenging unfair decisions
  • Access to community care and health services
  • Protecting family life and rights to children
  • Personal safety and legal protection routes

We are currently developing online guides and are open to enquiries for the project via email and phone as we set up the web chat service.
